Most regular readers of Behind the Scenes Makeup can attest to the fact that I take skincare very seriously. My bathroom shelves are lined with products that I frequently rotate in and out, with hopes that my personal aging process is slowing down as we speak. When I was contacted to review Shiseido’s new Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate I jumped at the opportunity. Not only am I already a fan of the brand’s line to begin with, but the Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate peaked my interest because this is a first-of-its kind product, and it incorporates 20 years of research in its creation and development.
I’m very proactive in living a healthy lifestyle: opting for organic food, working out, juicing, etc. This is not only beneficial to my current health (I haven’t been sick in years), but I also believe it’s the greatest tool in disease prevention. It only makes sense that we should take the same precautions when it comes to our skin! Shiseido’s Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate takes a preventative approach to skin care by focusing on a new concept: the skin’s immunity. This product helps to boost the defensive function in our cells, which in turn allows the skin to resist, protect, regenerate, and strengthen itself . With regular use, research concludes that Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate effectively makes skin smoother and more supple, improves skin tone clarity and radiance, and after four weeks users notice fewer fine lines and wrinkles, as well as increased resilience. Shiseido’s Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate comes in a really pretty red and white glass bottle with a pump dispenser. The product is extremely lightweight and has a gel-like consistency. A little bit goes a long way as only 2 pumps covered my entire face very easily. The concentrate has a pleasant, light floral smell with notes of rose and lotus flowers. The Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate is designed as a pre-serum, meaning you apply it before your regular serum and moisturizer. As an added step to my skin care regimen, I was happy to find that it absorbed super quickly, leaving no residue behind. I noticed that immediately after applying the concentrate, my skin felt fresh and hydrated.
Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate works in conjunction with your other skin care products and even makes them more powerful, boosting their benefits! I have combination skin with a few dry spots and an oily t-zone. The Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate sits beautifully underneath my regular serum and moisturizers. I would imagine that an added product would feel heavy, but this one doesn’t at all. I’ve even found that I need less moisturizer as my skin feels smoother and any product that I apply after the concentrate glides on much easier.
Shiseido states that this concentrate works for all ages and skin types, and I do agree. The gel-like consistency and quick absorption make it great for oily skin. If you have dry skin, I recommend applying the Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate and then following up with a richer moisturizer. After looking at the ingredients, I did notice that denatured alcohol is at the top of the list, which alone can be drying and cause irritation for some people. I did not notice any negative effects because of this ingredient, but I wanted to point it out for any of my readers who might be sensitive to certain chemicals. Overall, I really like Shiseido’s Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate and the defense it gives my skin’s immunity. I’m looking forward to seeing even more results that come with prolonged use.
