I recently realized that since I’m always testing new makeup and skincare, I don’t often mention the OG, tried and true products that have been in my kit for years. So what better way to initiate this glimpse into my professional kit than to start with the moisturizer that comes with me on every single job. Keep reading for my in-depth Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre review.
Many moons ago you could only purchase Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre in France, making it a well kept industry secret amongst makeup artists, models and beauty editors.
I was first introduced to the cult classic moisturizer over a decade ago, when I noticed that every makeup artist I assisted carried the white metal tube in their kit.

EMBRYOLISSE LAIT CREME CONCENTRE REVIEW // A MAKEUP ARTIST’S SECRET WEAPON
WHAT IS EMBRYOLISSE LAIT CREME CONCENTRE
Embyrolisse Lait Creme Concentre was created in Paris in 1950 by a dermatologist who specialized in skin pathologies. The creme was the first product he created, which would later become the star of his entire skincare line, and a timeless cult favorite moisturizer.
Embyrolisse Lait Creme Concentre is an ultra rich, moisturizing creme formulated with essential fatty acids as well as natural ingredients like shea butter, beeswax, soy proteins and aloe vera.
It is most commonly used as a moisturizer and makeup primer but it also works excellent as a cold creme to gently remove makeup and lock in moisture.
Because the creme is so rich and gentle, some also use it to soothe skin from sunburns or irritations.
FRAGRANCE
Embroylisse Lait Creme Concentre has a very subtle, light scent. It smells clean and slightly floral.
I believe it will even work for those with a strong aversion to fragrances as the smell fades quickly and is not overpowering.
PACKAGING
The cream comes in a metal squeeze tube, which I’m on the fence about it.
On one hand, I like squeezable packaging (vs jars) because it keeps the product sanitary. On the other hand, metal tubes make it notoriously difficult to get all of the product out. You inevitably waste a good amount toward the end of the tube unless you cut it open.
Also, I have had a few Embryolisse metal tubes crack and leak the product into my kit.
INSTANT RESULTS
As a makeup artist, my job is to make the skin look perfect, and I’m usually not given a ton of time to make this happen. Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre pulls through for me time and time again, immediately plumping up the skin making it look and feel supple and soft.
This moisturizer has been around since the 1950’s and its ingredients are very similar to the traditional cold creams/moisturizers of the time.
If you look at the ingredients (below) it is essentially a mix of mineral oil, fatty acids water and wax. It doesn’t offer much in terms of actual skincare but it also doesn’t claim to.
This cream won’t fight wrinkles or provide you with permanent skincare results, but if you’re looking for a simple skin prep product that will instantly transform your face into luminous perfection, this is it.

HOW TO APPLY EMBRYOLISSE LAIT CREME CONCENTRE
If you are using the cream as a moisturizer or a primer, apply a small amount to your hands and massage into your skin. A little goes a long way, so start small (think pea sized) and build if you need more.
For combination or dry skin, I apply the moisturizer to the entire face.
If you have very oily skin, I would avoid applying it to your t-zone as the cream might be a little too emollient and heavy for areas that are already prone to shine.

DOUBLES AS A PRIMER AND WORKS WELL WITH MAKEUP
Given its simple ingredient composition, I don’t use this cream to treat any type skin issues. I use it for one reason, and that is to moisturize and prep the skin.
Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre wears beautifully underneath makeup. The consistency feels satiny and whipped, but it goes on very light. It does not pill, it makes your foundation glide on, and it gives your skin an amazing glow.
This cream is also great if you don’t wear a lot of foundation. It adds a layer of moisture and makes you look supple and hydrated.
If you bought this cream for its primer abilities, just know that you do not need a separate moisturizer. This will multitask as your moisturizer and your primer.
A LIFESAVER FOR DRY DEHYDRATED SKIN
Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentré has been nicknamed the “24 Hour Miracle Cream” and it is exactly that.
If any of my clients sit in my chair with dry or dehydrated skin, I use a healthy layer of this moisturizer during the skin prep stage, and let it sink in. Within minutes, it transforms the skin into a soft glowing canvas.
Personally, I use it anytime I’m traveling in cold weather. It acts as a barrier from the cold air and keeps my skin from drying out, which is common in low temps.

WORKS WELL WITH SENSITIVE, ACNE-PRONE SKIN
While Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre is on the richer side for a moisturizer, I have found that it still works well for those with sensitive or acne prone skin.
According to the brand’s website:
“All Embryolisse products abide by a strict formulation charter which is the result of pharmaceutical practices. Produced under pharmaceutical supervision and tested by dermatologists, they incorporate the right active ingredients in the right quantities, and are suitable for use on even the most sensitive skin.”
Please note: if you do have sensitive skin, I always recommend spot testing new products to ensure that they will work well for you.
