Looking cute in the snow is not an easy task but with a few simple steps, you can look effortlessly put together and ready for a day on the slopes.
Wear Sunscreen
Just because it’s cold outside, doesn’t mean you can skip sunscreen. In fact, snow reflects 80% of the suns rays so you actually need it more! Choose a waterproof sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin and eliminate the risk of looking like a lobster later in the cabin.
Go Waterproof
Every time I go snowboarding I wind up soaking wet (probably because I spend half the time on my butt). Obviously, when snow melts it becomes water, so it’s common sense to choose waterproof makeup before hitting the slopes in order to reduce the risk of your mascara running and you eyeliner rubbing off. Makeup Forever’s entire Aqua line is wonderful! It was created for Cirque Du Soleil’s water show, “O” , so you know that it’s been tried and tested and it’s gonna hold up.
Skip the Blush
When it’s cold outside, your skin will naturally start to flush. When you’ve been snowboarding or skiing, you are not only exposed to the cold for long periods of time, but you’re exercising too. Chances are you will have perfect, naturally flushed cheeks.
Less is More
Don’t over do the makeup. Snowboarding and skiing are exercise so less is always going to be more. If you can’t leave the house without makeup or if you have a sexy snow date, try these tips and look effortlessly put together:
- Apply a shimmery champagne colored shadow to apply to your entire eyelid. The snow will reflect the light particles, making your eyes look brighter.
- Draw a thin line of waterproof eyeliner on your upper eyelid, curl your lashes and then apply several layers of waterproof mascara. Avoid bottom eyeliner because there’s a good chance it will start to run.
- Remember to skip the blush and apply a lip stain to your lips to reduce the need for constant touch ups.
Control Your Hair
Long flowy hair looks amazing on the slopes, until you’ve finished one run, and its now wet and tangled. Do yourself a favor and put your hair away. Tie it up in a high ponytail with a cute bow or headband, or opt for a messy side braid. For the easiest, most low maintenance look, put on a beanie and be done with it.
