Have you ever tried subscription boxes? I’ll admit that I haven’t for 2 reasons: 1. I don’t like samples. I never use them. 2. I’m pretty picky so why would I spend money to let random people choose things for me that they think I’ll like? Wantable is the first beauty subscription box (that I’ve seen) that solves my two issues.
The Products are Full Sized
Samples are fun, but they inevitably end up in my sample drawer, with all the other unused mini products that I’ve never touched. Wantable’s box offers full sized products from brands that I love (Three Custom Color, Japonesque, Face Stockholm). The boxes are valued at up to $100 for only $36/month. You can also purchase 1 box without the monthly subscription for $40.
It’s 100% Customizable
When I started the sign-up process to receive my first box, I had to fill out an extensive questionnaire. How do you feel about brow products, lipsticks, nail polish? Are you a shimmer eyeshadow, or matte eyeshadow girl? Do you like pink lips, red ones, nude? I actually got a little annoyed at just how in depth their customization process was. Then I remembered, it’s for my own good because I’d be the first one to complain about a sheer nail polish or glitter eyeshadow.
In my August 2013 Wantable box:
- Michael Marcus Red Velvet Lipliner
- Brazen Cosmetics Buzzed Loose Eyeshadow
- Japonesque Smudger Brush
- Michael Marcus Geisha Girl Nail Polish
- Lise Watier Haute Couleur High Coverage Lip Laquer in Rouge Catwalk
- Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme Sample
I could’ve just received the Japonesque brush and I’d be happy. The loose eyeshadow from Brazen cosmetics is a beautiful deep brown, and the Lise Watier Lip Laquer is an amazing, full coverage red gloss. Both are definitely going in my kit. I’ve never heard of Michael Marcus cosmetics before and I kind of wish they had included a different brand rather than sending two Michael Marcus items in the same box.
The value of the products for my box equaled out to be $88, so for only $36, it is a good deal.
Pros:
-4-6 full sized products
-Completely customizable
-If, for some reason, you don’t like your box you can return it for a full refund, no questions asked. You don’t have to worry about wasting money on products you’re not fond of or know you’ll never use.
Cons:
-I’d like to see a greater variety of brands
-In the world of subscription boxes, Wantable is definitely on the more expensive side
