My sister finally turned 21, and of course we are in Vegas this weekend to celebrate. If you’ve never been, packing for the city of sin can be a little overwhelming. Check out my top 6 beauty items to throw in your Vegas suitcase.
Shimmer
The Strip is filled with bright lights, flashy signs and neon colors. It’s an unwritten rule that you must sparkle if you want to get noticed here.
Some Ideas to Incorporate Subtle Shimmer into Your Vegas Makeup:
Highlight your the tops of your cheekbones so when they catch the lights, you’ll look like you’re glowing. It also gives the illusion of amazing bone structure. My favorite highlighters of the moment are Smashbox’s Artificial Light and NARS Multiple in Copacabana.
Pick a pearly color and apply it to the inner corners of your eyes (near the tear ducts). It will make your eyes look brighter and give a hint of sparkle.
Give your body an overall glow by applying a light reflecting lotion. I love Scott Barnes Body Bling and Red Carpet Kolour. Added bonus: they make your skin look flawless in photos
Blotting Sheets
It can get hot in those crowded clubs, and the last thing you’ll want to do is powder, caking layers of makeup to your face. I love blotting sheets to take away the shine while leaving your skin naturally matte and not thick. They are also small enough to throw in your clutch.
Makeup Remover Wipes
Chances are you won’t be going to bed until the wee hours of the morning and I guarantee the last thing you’ll want to do when you get back to your room is wash your face. As you make a bee-line for the pillow, simply grab a makeup remover and wipe away your makeup. It’s so easy and your skin will thank you in the morning.
Budge-Proof Makeup
Making sure your makeup stays on all night is very important in the city that doesn’t sleep. Don’t skimp out on the primers, they help to extend the life your makeup application. Eyeshadow primer can be your best friend. My favorites are Urban Decays Primer Potion and NARS’. Gel liners stay on much longer than pencils, especially waterproof formulas. Smashbox’s Jet Set liners and MAC’s fluidlines will not budge, even if you wind up dance all night long. Last but not least, spray your makeup down with a setting spray (like Skindinavia) to ensure it lasts all night.
Antioxidant Moisturizer
Unfortunately spending time in Vegas means exposure to a ton of second hand smoke. Pack a moisturizer loaded with antioxidants to protect your skin from this harmful smoke that can cause premature wrinkles. I like Origins “A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturizer.”
Sunscreen
Las Vegas can reach temperatures over 100 degrees so whether you’re walking the strip or laying out by the pool, you need to be prepared. I love La Roche Posay’s face sunscreens. They don’t interfere with makeup, or make you look extra oily.
