I just got home from the preview night for The Makeup Show LA and they have some really cool things in store for you this year. Check out what’s happening this weekend!
Kevyn Aucoin Gallery
For the first time ever, The Makeup Show is hosting an “Icon Gallery,” and this year’s icon is the one and only Kevyn Aucoin. We were given an exclusive first look at the gallery and I’m not gonna lie guys, I got a little choked up. I’ve always been a fan of Kevyn’s work (obviously) and I have all of his books, but I started working in the industry years after he passed, so he wasn’t as tangible to me as he was to other artists. This gallery feels so personal, and you really gain a feel for how loved he was as a person and an artist. It contains actual pieces from his makeup kit, drawings he made, letters he wrote, personal photos and other very special memorabilia. It’s very touching and a must-see if you’re attending the show.

Oh, no big deal. Just his actual, gigantic comp card filled with Vogue covers..

One of my favorite things about The Makeup Show is always the quality of the education. The keynote speakers are always top industry leaders with so much information and insight to give. This year, Gita Bass (Madonna, Cher) , Rob Scheppy (The Kardashians), Ve Neil (The Hunger Games, Pirates of the Caribbean), Damone Roberts (Gwyenth Paltrow, Alicia Keys), Eryn Krueger Mekash (American Horror Story: Coven), Jonah Levy (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) and Wayne Goss (YouTube) will be on the keynote stage. Talk about inspiration! It’s the perfect blend of celebrity, television, film and social media artists. There is something for everyone.
New Beauty Launches
This year, The Makeup Show’s Diamond Sponsor, Makeup Forever, will be launching their HD blush and HD pressed powder. Exclusively at the show, they will be offering HD kits that feature both the new HD products along with the HD bestsellers. A complimentary Makeup Forever Crystal Pouch will be given to attendees who purchase any of the HD kits.
Ve Neil will also be launching her new brushes from her line Ve’s Favorite Brushes, along with her FX line! Make sure to stop by, check it out and meet the woman behind the magic of Edward Scissorhands, Mrs. Doubtfire, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Hunger Games!
I’ll see you at the show!
